OUR TRIP TO VEGAS!

We went to Las Vegas this past weekend and had so much fun. We decided to go see KA, by Cirque du Soleil at the MGM Grand and it was amazing. It was the first time either of us had been to a show in Vegas. The last time we went to Vegas together was in November of 2005 when we got engaged. Needless to say it was much needed and a blast! We left Thursday night and stayed in St. George, UT at my friend Tanya's, she just had a baby so it was a lot of fun to see them. Then Friday we drove the rest of the way to Vegas and we checked into the MGM. It was a really cool room, it had a TV in the bathroom mirror, these crazy glass doors that opened up to reveal the toilet on the left side and the shower on the right, and the bed was so comfortable I honestly didn't want to leave. Too bad check out comes so early! Anyhow, Saturday night we stayed at my friend Mindy's house. We had a lot of fun just relaxing and doing some shopping. Well, sorry this blog is so long. Here's some pictures!

This is the ceiling at the Bellagio.
This is a video of the gardens they have at the Bellagio. They change it every season and it is unbelievable the amount of work that must go into it. Every time I've been there it looks ENTIRELY different. This video is mostly of the water jumping around but at one point I pan over to where Shay proposed to me. I had never seen the inside of the Bellagio so he took me there after he took me on a Gondola ride at the Venetian. We were just looking around and he said, "What's that over there?" So I turned and looked and he had the ring in the box open behind me. Then he got on his knee and asked me to marry him. Then we hugged and he put the ring on my finger and everyone that was watching clapped and cheered. It was so cute! It was fun to see the area again. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bresWtNSqu4
This is a picture of Shay standing by a car that was on display at the Bellagio.

Me in front of the landscape at the Wynn. That is a BEAUTIFUL hotel.

Shay in front of the Wynn waterfalls.
Sleepy Lions at the MGM. I think it's neat that we can see such exotic creatures so close, but I feel like they are asleep all the time! Could it be they are depressed from the captivity? Shay standing by the Sphinx at the Luxor. He was hoping to run into Criss Angel. No luck!See, he loves Criss Angel... this is one of his motorcycles on display. Here's a video of our hotel room at the MGM. It was so cool. Very "modern. "http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FgvOIRZICKE

Hope you enjoyed! Love ya much! Destiny

Time for me to preach...

Faith Hill looks amazing. She is a beautiful woman and I think it is sad that they changed her so much for the cover of this magazine. They made her eye makeup stronger, they thickened her hair, made her jawline smaller, softened her smile lines, made her neck/shoulders smaller, got rid of her collarbone, made her back and waist smaller, added an arm, and made her other arm look like an unhealthy stick. What was so wrong with the original? Imagine what they would do to me! It's sad how our images and expectations of ourselves (this very much includes me) have become distorted because of the media. And I'm sure there are other influences, but really, I consider media one of the strongest influences in the world. It's time to not let it be. I want to try really hard to just accept me and be as healthy as I can. Anyone up for joining me?

July 4th...

So I know this holiday was over a week ago but I just got these pictures so enjoy! We had a nice and relaxing day at home, well I did, Shay went golfing. And then that evening we went to his Aunts house in Mapleton and had a BBQ and fireworks. This year was a lot of fun. Shays' father has started this tradition (if you call it that) that involves a fireworks display competition. His dad always puts on these amazing shows with music and the fireworks timed to go off just at the right moment with the music. This year he had a leftover firework (that he got in Wyoming) and he let Shay light it off. Well, while it was going off a cop walks into the back yard where we all were. It was super funny to us that were there. Probably not as much to you. But we were all laughing pretty hard. Luckily he gave us a warning but we never did get to see his dads display because we didn't want to get in more trouble. Hope you had fun and were safe! LOVE YA!

SMOKEY DAY!

There is a huge fire burning about 80 miles south of Utah County. It has burned about 400,000 acres now and is 0% contained. Lightening started it on Friday. I can see the smoke plumes from here and our valley is full of smoke! I tried rollerblading outside and I could taste the smoke and now my lungs burn. It's crazy! Here are some pictures. They closed the freeway on Saturday and Sunday because the fire has jumped over it. I'm going to run some errands and I'll take some pictures of the air quality here so I can post those too.

Rest in Peace Teddy.

Shays' family has had a wonderful shih tzu named Teddy for 12 years now. Sadly Teddy had a stroke and passed away this morning. I wanted to give a little space on my page to share with you all how much fun Teddy was. He would bite on a hand towel and hold on really tight while Shay would spin him around in circles. He loved it! He also was so funny in his interactions with the other dogs in his life. He used to chase the neighbors dog. The thing was, the neighbors dog was on the other side of a wooden fence that you couldn't really see through. But they knew each other was there and would run up and down the length of the fence barking at each other. That dog moved away and now there is Nibbles next door. There is a hole in the fence between the two yards and Teddy and Nibbles would stick their heads in the hole and bark at each other. And then there is Griffin. My sister in laws puppy. Teddy HATED him at first. I think it took almost a year for him to adjust to Griff. They would do this thing where Teddy would howl and Griff would bark and bark and bark. He kept getting right in Teds' face and Teddy would look so confused, like, "Why is he doing this to me? What's going on?" We are sure the neighbors thought the same thing. Anyhow! The point is that even in the short 2 years I knew Teddy I have amazing memories and he was a great dog. Here is my "Ode to Teddy"...

I forgot

I bought a hat today. I wanted to wear it tonight to dinner and I was asking Shay what I should wear with it. He looked at my clothes and said, "You have no clothes. Is this seriously all the clothes you have?" I said, "Yes". He said, "Go buy yourself some clothes." CAN YOU BELIEVE IT! He's so wonderful. (Stop with the eye rolling... we all think our husbands are wonderful. Once in a while...) Anyhow. I agree with him, I wear the same outfits. I just try to alternate them so I wear them on different days of the week. I hate spending money on clothes but I just might do it! Well, that's all. Gute Nacht!

Funeral for a little Birdie.

Today Shay and I went to eat at Noodles and Company. We decided it was nicer outside than in so we ate out on their balcony. As we were sitting outside this cute little chickadee flew right into the window and landed on the ground. It was obviously hurt and I was quite distressed over this. I got up and I picked it up. It was gasping for air and I felt so bad for it. I told Shay the least I could do was give it some comfort and love as it died. I didn't want it to die alone. Now I know that animals die alone all the time. But if I'm around. They won't. I sat and pet it till it died. A few minutes later it closed it's eyes and no longer was breathing so I asked Shay where I should put it. He said "We're not having a funeral for it." NO KIDDING. Anyhow, I walked over to these bushes and flowers and set him down to sleep forever. I then proceeded to wash my hands. I knew I was covered in disease and germs, but I don't care. I loved that bird for the few minutes I was with it. Most of you know I'm a sucker for animals and if this doesn't prove it, nothing will. Well, that's all. That was my funeral for my Birdie. RIP little Bird!

Tiggz goes swimming!

I read that guinea pigs are excellent swimmers so I decided to give it a try. I was a little nervous and I felt kinda bad cuz I think he was scared, but he did so good! We put him in the water for a little bit while the tub filled up but he just sat there staring at us like, "get me out of here!" then when it was full enough I picked him up and slowly lowered him into the water and he started swimming in circles! YAY for my piggy! Then he was all wet and cold so I felt bad again. I'll probably never do it again but it was cute and I'm so proud of my guinea pigs' first attempt at swimming. Here is a link to watch him swim. And yes, I know it's gross but too bad, those are little poopies in the water. Get over it. =)

Just sayin' hi!

Today was my day off and I am so sad it's over! I slept in and then went to run my errands and spend a ridiculous amount of money on supplies for the salon. That was sad. Then I went and sat by my pool for an hour (working on that goal of warm ivory...) and it was really nice. Hot of course, but I love reading and it's a great time to read. Then Shay and I went and saw 1408. It's a good movie. Really trippy. I left and felt like I just went through the twilight zone. I liked it. Not too scary, although, if you asked some of the girls in there (the ones screaming bloody murder...) they would say it was. It wasn't scary, it just surprised you sometimes. Anyhow, enough with my rambling. Hope you all had a good day. I did!
